Emma Bunton

I love Emma Bunton. I discovered her while I was researching some albums in iTunes for my parents to buy since they were in the US (This was a long time ago) and I just wanted to search “Emma” because I love that name… and guess who appeared? A beautiful woman who apparently had an album, so I listened to some of her tracks and fell in love with her soothing voice. It was only later that I discovered she is “Baby Spice” from Spice Girls.

I don’t have much to say about her like I have to say about Utada and Christina, but I sure love her music. If I were to list my favorite tracks (From the only album I own, “Free Me” by her), I would only leave out one or two. It really is an amazing album and I recommend it to everybody. The album is very different from all the other things I listen to, since it’s more mature, “jazz-y,” and yet “pop-y” and her voice is just so delicate and soothing, it seems to be out of this world!

Sofy is another fan of her’s, I guess… I don’t think she is a “fan,” but I know she loves a song by her, “Maybe,” which I also love, so I guess Emma Bunton is one of the few artists we have in common… But still, I think it’s very nice having someone to share music with!

Current news on her: Emma Bunton is pregnant (Apparently it’s a trend among the best singers) and the Spice Girls are back together, they won’t be touring for a while because of Baby Spice’s baby (Huh, weird), but they already scheduled tour dates throughout South and North America, Europe and Asia.

I find it so beautiful that they are back together now! Not that I LOVE them or something like that, I hardly listen to them, but I think friends need to stick together, and now they’re recovering a friendship that led them through their most unforgettable times, when they got famous and all! Congratulations for you all!

Here’s the music video for her single “Downtown,” straight from YouTube! Enjoy:

Overload

This month has been terrible, no time for myself, only to work on projects, homework, study for tests, and my grades still aren’t that high, of course, my grade for english hadn’t only depended on me, so I do have an excuse for that (Group project, big part of our grade, late work, C+) and I feel like I’m about to explode, and since my body no longer has the time to create blood and feed my organs and develop my brain, only to work and study, the only thing that’ll burst out of me is the empty air that seems to fill my soul when my consience isn’t feeling guilty for having either late work, a bad grade, a load of homework ahead of me, or a long, boring assignment due the next day. Before it was like:

“So, what do we have for homework?”

“Just some reading for portuguese, math homework and some history questions!”

But now it’s like:

“So, what do we have for homework?”

“Let me check the list, here it is:
Science: All section reviews from chapter 3 AND a quiz
Math: pg. 196; Maintaning skills
Portuguese: Read from page 55 till the end of the book AND a test that’ll decide your grade ’till the end of the quarter
History: Extra credit, questions 1-5 on the sheet of paper he gave us AND a test that’ll decide our grades ’till the end of the quarter
English: Reading log, Current events, Opening statement, bible-reading
Health: Comic Strip
That’s it! Wow, we do have a lot of homework, don’t we?” [Person faints]

I’m sick of it! I don’t want anymore homework, we even have homework and tests scheduled the day before our class trip, we’re gonna have to study while we put our things together, now… teachers are expecting WAY too much from us, they’re supposed to know that lessons are taught at school, NOT at home! I’m just so mad, angry, heavy-consience-d and… depressed.

Utada United

I think I’m the only person in the whole world who enjoys the good ol’ concert DVD. Whenever a concert DVD of a singer I like comes out, I HAVE to buy it, it’s like when I reach the top of loving an artist… I also love music video DVDs… They’re also great, you get to see the vocal, physical and emotional changes in the singer’s life since when he/she (In my feminist case of song selection, it’s a “she”) began their lives as an official performer. Besides, when it’s a concert, you get to see how the performer shows animation and entertains its fans… and I gotta tell you, from all the concert DVDs I have (And when I say ALL, I mean Christina Aguilera’s concert-ography) “Utada United” from Utada Hikaru is the best concert EVER! In fact, I prefer her much more “live” than in her albums… Even though she doesn’t mess up her voice to make it sound beautiful, she doesn’t need it, it naturally stunning… only Paris Hilton does, and still, it ain’t working for her.

Moving on, I can’t stop seeing/listening to it, I’m unlucky because I can’t buy it. At least “Veoh” exists and allowed me to download the musical genius live in concert. I totally recommend y’all getting to veoh.com and downloading it! It’s really, a cheerful, happy, fantastic, cute and beautiful concert, she stands on top of this glass platform that shows images or colors of the moods she wants the song to symbolize! Although, it’s hard to compare to Christina’s Stripped concert, since Xtina had settings, and dancers and it’s also a fantastic show, but Utada shows this cuteness and happiness, while Xtina shows her average everybody-knows sex appeal, and between both, I think Utada’s enthusiasm ROCKS! I’ll upload her live version of Passion, for it’s the beginning of the concert and I love how the lighting is manipulated and because it’s a glimpse of how amazing the concert is! Here it is, straight from Dailymotion! Enjoy:

My Depression

Today has been a terrible day before Shakespeare club, but my super mom, which I love very much, convinced me to go, so I went, and it made me feel so much better, and we had so much fun!

There are times in my life in which this feeling that everything’s going to end someday to everyone, so why move on? It’s just worthless, helpless, and you’ll be wasting every effort you make in vain. This year has been a terrible year without our marvelous teachers, Baby C, Cida M., and Vivian. They all made us look forward into seeing them, we loved to have class with them, no matter how boring the subject was… and this year, we lack that, the teachers are cold, furious for no reason, rude, and just every other terrible adjective… And that’s just such a discouragment (I guess this is the term… at least in portuguese it is) for us to:

a) Do our homework

b) Study for tests

c) Pay attention to class

And y’all know that if we don’t do the previous things, we’ll get bad grades in everything. Teachers should all be respectful, warm (Not cold, at least), calm, polite and all other positive adjectives, after all, they are there to TEACH us, not KILL us. I remember once I asked for a teacher to repeat the answer to a question and she told me to look it up myself… I was so shocked, that I answered “So why are we correcting then, if we can look it up ourselves?” and she got pissed and put up a show that my respect for her just went to negative infinity, and I didn’t pay attention… that’s just how terrible our lives have become, well, at least we still got Beebs, (Mrs. Bertram! She rocks!) without her, we would be helpless, I would at least.

JPop Princesses

I don’t understand how Brazilians have this prejudice against JPop. I don’t know if it’s because they have this image of the language that causes an unpleasent sound when they hear the music, or if it’s anything else, and that’s just annoying, maybe they could really enjoy JPop if they TRIED to listen to it, and I would recommend that you try and listen to something different every once in a while! Don’t be stubborn and all, and try something new. There are some of my friends that I really admire for trying new things, such as Sofy, Lorraine, and many other people, although, I, in the other hand am a stubborn little person (A 1 meter 74 centemeters little stubborn person) and that’s why I admire them so much! Continue like that, you two are great!

So, anyways, these past two days, I spent downloading Ayumi Hamasaki’s albums (At least 9 of them, I got done) and I gotta tell you, she’s a real JPop princess, doesn’t matter if she’s 2nd or 1st-er than Utada to some, to me, they are the best! She’s just amazing, her vocal ability is like something from another world, I’ve never heard anything like it, and my favorite song is one named “My Name’s WOMEN” and it’s a very feministic song, which goes against everything that men think about women even today. While Ayumi is like total JPop, Utada has a more American influence, due to the fact she is American, born in New York in a Japanese family, her mother too, was a famous singer… They both are the best singers I’ve ever heard, they are unique, they have fantastic vocal ability, they’re beautiful, and I don’t know about Ayumi, but Utada is just so cute and sweet! They both are fantastic, the true JPop princesses, like they all call them!

Time At Last

Nothing really happened since my last post, but the lack of rest, time for myself and EXCESSIVE HOMEWORK. I hadn’t even time to write a single, average-sized post! That’s how complicated my life has become so far, today is the first day in the week so far that I had the chance to finish my homework at 7 PM (Since before, 9 PM would be the time I finished my homework). At least my week wasn’t TOTALLY wasted:

1st good thing: My work has been worthwhile, my commercial for a project in English class was the only commercial that the teacher asked for us to repeat! I felt like all the work actually payed off, and we finally got it done with, AND got a good grade!

2nd good thing: Thais gave me a poster and a magazine all about JPop, and as I looked at the poster, I saw this singer named “Ayumi Hamasaki,” so I wanted to know her better… I’m downloading all her albums, so far, I have 7 out of 11, which is great, by tomorrow, I should have all of them, and I’ll be happy… since I’ll have every album from “The Princess of JPop!” (Don’t y’all worry, even though I was introduced to Ayumi’s music, Hikaru/Utada is still my favorite singer, and nobody stands a chance against her!) and by the way, Ayumi is amazing!

Well, there isn’t much more to say, it’s been a very monotuous week…

Melrose Bickerstaff

Melrose is the beautifullest model I’ve ever seen, I loved her since the beginning of “America’s Next Top Model” cycle 7.

The most annoying part is that Melrose is the girl that everybody was jealous of for her confidence, her competitveness (After all, this is a contest) and everything else. Melrose had to put up with all these unhappy, insecure girls calling her names, all the way. In the end, she was always attacked, and she wasn’t doing anything to anybody, like she used to do to Anchal (And I agree with her, Anchal was just annoying), but CariDee, the new Cover Girl (Not newest) should have been superior, and not keep saying that she’d throw up if Melrose was “America’s Next Top Model” and all… Melrose SO should’ve been the winner.

In the last episode, CariDee ripped Melrose’s dress, even though it was accidently in the runway, and Melrose STILL did a stunning performance, and I was just sad that she was going to leave, she didn’t diserve it… Her walk, appearence, confidence and, well, she, were the elements that made her walk perfect. While when CariDee walked in, she exagerated, and when the girls were supposed to be scared, and cross the runway screaming, CariDee went over the top, while Melrose was stunning and PERFECT, the judges really should’ve thought more about the winner.

You all have to watch it if you haven’t watched it in the pre-historic times (The times we live in Brazil) to understand what I mean, and I hope you all agree with me, in how Melrose should’ve won. I guess Tyra has this weekness for models with a sad history, like CariDee… I’m not mercyful, it’s not about if she tried to kill herself, if she had this skin problem, but it’s about the winner, who should’ve been Melrose.

I know I sound like an obsessed maniac, but it’s true… MELROSE RULES! (Don’t worry, Baby C, you’ll always be the #1 model right? After all, they did turn you down because you’d win immediatly and ruin the other model’s self esteem)

Here are the (PERFECT) pictures that cost her the title of “Cover Girl” and “America’s Next Top Model”:

Because this post has been such a success so far in this blog and has never left my “Top Posts” column, I’d like to thank everyone reading this post by uploading CariDee’s disastrous walk to prove how much of a better top model Melrose is. Thank you and enjoy!
